Inerjys bolsters talent with two new senior appointments

Montreal, November 26, 2018 – Global clean energy investment fund Inerjys announced today the appointments of two senior investment executives on the heels of becoming one of the first global cleantech funds to achieve a profitable exit for its investors. Jennifer Wood, formerly at BCA Research, is appointed Vice President and Hozefa Abbas joins Inerjys from Oman Investment Fund in the role of Principal.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Hozefa and Jennifer to help us implement cleantech breakthroughs and realize our vision of doing good for the planet while generating sustainable profit”, said Stephan Ouaknine, CEO of Inerjys. “Both will play critical roles in our investment strategy by sourcing and managing relationships with our portfolio companies, investors and strategic partners, helping build a bridge of commercialization between these key actors. We will continue pushing the limits of bold thinking and action to make renewable energy affordable and abundant globally.”

Jennifer Wood brings over 15 years of capital markets experience to Inerjys, with previous roles in equity research as well as institutional relationship management covering large, US-based financial institutions. Jennifer has worked as a sell side equity analyst covering growth stage companies as well as larger, more mature industries. She has also provided strategic counsel to corporate issuers on their positioning in the capital markets – specifically in presenting their corporate strategies and financial reporting to institutional investors.

Hozefa Abbas brings over 12 years of experience spanning technology commercialization, venture capital and project finance. He gained investing and fundraising experience while working for funds such as the Oman Sovereign Wealth Fund and IFCI Venture Capital. His investing experience spans several industry areas including technology, manufacturing, infrastructure and real estate. His experience at General Electric Global Research notably led him to pilot technology commercialization and intellectual property licensing projects in cleantech and advanced materials.

Profitable investor exit and global thought leadership

Since creating the fund 6 years ago, Stephan Ouaknine has successfully delivered more than 12 innovative projects around the planet. Inerjys is also one of the first cleantech funds having achieved a profitable exit for its investors when it sold in September 2018 semiconductor firm Solantro to Chinese electronics giant Huada.

Additionally, Stephan has been invited on world stages including the Clinton Global Initiative conference hosted by the Clinton Foundation, and the COP21 World Climate Change Summit hosted by the United Nations, to share his message on climate change and clean energy solutions. His vision has been endorsed by well-known personalities including Richard Branson and Prince Albert II of Monaco.
